A city employee who lifted a storm drain cover at Clarendon Park this morning as part of winter preparation work found a decomposing body underneath, authorities said.

The body appeared to be that of an adult, although the sex could not be immediately determined, police on the scene said. The body was wearing leggings.

The body was discovered in the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue on the border of the Uptown and Buena Park neighborhoods.

Police had cordoned off the area, and crime scene investigators had been called to the park.
