"We're looking at missing person reports to see if there's any connection, but right now we're waiting to see if the medical examiner's office can clarify if it was male or female," said Police Chief Russell Pearson.

Police are investigating the death of a man whose skeletal remains were found in Lynwood.

A farmer notified police he might have found human remains in his field. The decomposed remains found by police were partially clothed and had been scattered by animals, Lynwood police said.

The cause of death could not be determined, the release said.

The skeleton of an unidentified man was found Tuesday morning at 20200 Burnham Ave. and was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Autopsy results Wednesday were withheld pending the police investigation, according to the medical examiner's office.

Lynwood police, Illinois State Police and the medical examiner’s office are investigating.
